Anglian Building Products reach 4000 milestone in Rotherham
Mrs Walker welcomed 2010 Rotherham and Anglian Building Products employees into her home to celebrate the completion of the 4000th property to receive new uPVC windows and doors.
Anglian Building Products, the business to business division of Anglian Windows are working in partnership with 2010 Rotherham and other contractors to bring council properties up to the Government’s Decent Homes standard through refurbishment
Anglian are one of a number of security contractors which began work within Rotherham in 2006 and has been working on a large scale project to refurbish windows and doors to modernise up to 18,000 local homes, on behalf of 2010 Rotherham, the housing management company for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
The Anglian landmark 4000th home belongs to Mrs Walker who was visited by colleagues from 2010 Rotherham and Anglian Building Products and given a sumptuous hamper to mark the occasion. Anglian Building Products are now well on the way to completing over three quarters of the scheduled improvement works in the areas around the Rotherham areas.

Mrs Walker has benefitted from improvements including new windows and doors as well as other improvements such as new kitchen complete with cupboards and fittings and a new bathroom with sink, bath and toilet. She has also had her property re-wired, re-plastered, and had central heating installed under the Decent Homes scheme.
Mrs Walker said: "The house looks beautiful; the windows are fantastic, good quality and the doors look great too. It’s wonderful, like a different house, I have no complaints at all. There was some mess and disruption during the refurbishment, but it can’t be helped when there is so much work going on, and it was more than worth it in the end. The workmen were great, and they always cleaned up after themselves
I feel very lucky to have been part of this celebration - and really grateful to have had the work completed."
As part of the decent homes scheme, 2010 Rotherham is set to complete the investment of £300 million in improving residents' homes by March 2011. Improvements include new windows, doors, kitchens and bathrooms, complete re-wires, rendering, new central heating systems and the replacement of old gas fires and boilers.
Ramona Youhill 2010 Rotherham’s Decent Homes Investment Manager said: "We are delighted to be almost three quarters of the way through the refurbishment programme which is giving a new lease of life to people's homes, as well as improving the appearance of neighbourhoods across Rotherham.
We are delighted with the service received from Anglian Building Products. We have a huge investment programme which we need to deliver to meet our tenant’s expectations and we need all our partners to play their part."
Anglian Contracts Manager Dave Banks said: "The fact that we are now in the process of completing our 4,000th property just goes to show how many residents are benefiting from the improvements in the Rotherham area.
It is fantastic to see the area being revitalised in this way and the works are making a profound difference. We really are bringing about a fantastic transformation and we've already had some excellent feedback from local residents. I am delighted that Mrs Walker is happy with the improvements that she has received."
Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Shaukat Ali, said: “I would like to wish 2010 Rotherham and Anglian Building Products all the very best with the rest of their programme, which is improving the homes of council tenants across the borough. It is great to see the work that has been done and I am delighted that so many tenants have benefited from the initiative.”
