Award-winning partnership: Anglian Building Products and Saffron Housing celebrate decarbonisation success
We're delighted to announce that Anglian Building Products (ABP) and Saffron Housing have won Best Decarbonisation Approach at the Housing Executive Magazine Awards 2026!
The award recognises the success of our longstanding partnership in delivering energy efficiency improvements across Saffron's housing stock, demonstrating how collaboration, local expertise and a different approach to retrofit can deliver better outcomes for residents while making investment go further.
Having worked closely with Saffron for several years, it's wonderful to see our partnership recognised in this way. A huge amount of hard work and commitment has gone into this programme, and both teams should be incredibly proud.
Local roots
As part of its wider decarbonisation strategy, Saffron secured £7 million through Wave 3 of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund to improve the energy efficiency of its homes, with planned improvements including window replacements, air-source heat pumps, solar PV and loft insulation.
In Year 1 alone, 265 properties are set to achieve EPC C or above, compared with the 150 originally planned, all within the same budget. That's 115 more homes benefiting from energy efficiency improvements, and a brilliant example of how working collaboratively with specialist contractors can help housing providers make their investment go further.
The results demonstrate the value of this approach, and we hope it encourages other housing providers to consider what they could achieve by working more closely with local specialists.
Being based in Norwich ourselves, we've seen first-hand the benefits of keeping delivery local. It's allowed us to build strong relationships with Saffron's team, share our knowledge and expertise, and respond quickly when needed. It also means we're supporting local businesses, jobs and skills, which is another great outcome from the programme.
Beyond the numbers
Residents are at the heart of everything we do, and making sure they're happy with both the improvements to their homes and the service they receive is incredibly important to us. That's why we're particularly proud of our overall NPS of 81.10, with fantastic feedback on the quality of our installations, communication and the professionalism of our teams.
And it's always so rewarding to hear directly from residents and know that the work we're delivering is helping to make their homes warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient.
A massive thank you to everyone at ABP, Saffron Housing and our fellow delivery partners who have played a part in this project. This award is a fantastic reflection of the collaboration and hard work that has gone into it, and we're thrilled to be celebrating this success together.
