Phoenix Community Association Foodbank
We’re proud to have supported the incredible work of Phoenix Community Association with a £2,600 community donation, alongside The Hyde Group, helping a fantastic community growing project continue to make a difference.
What started in 2022 as a small garden beside the community centre, growing tomatoes for the Phoenix Food Shop, quickly proved a huge success. And as demand increased, the project expanded the following year before taking on an allotment, an old shed and greenhouse in 2025 to support its evolving ambitions.
After a little bit of TLC from a fantastic team of volunteers, the space was restored and now home to thriving crops of tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens and a wide range of other vegetables. Raised beds and terraced areas have also been built with accessibility in mind, making it easier for any age to get stuck in!
This year the allotment is about much more than producing fresh food, it aims to allow residents to get involved and start growing too. This will be encouraged by regular short workshops to show how to grow vegetables like tomatoes and quick-growing salads and herbs either at home or on site.
Our team have recently been on site at the Phoenix Estate, making it even more rewarding to see our work there contribute to initiatives that directly benefit local residents, and we’re pleased that our donation with The Hyde Group could play a small part in supporting this incredible initiative that is creating lasting benefits for the local community!
