Anglian raised £826 for Shelter through their recent World Homeless Day event.
A spokesperson from the charity commented, “Shelter are hugely grateful for the incredible amount raised by the recent Anglian World Homeless Day event! This money could pay for over 80 urgent calls to our helpline to help 80 families get the advice they need to avoid losing their home.
Francesca and her young daughter were made homeless when Francesca’s mum was unexpectedly made guardian to two young family members and no longer had space to house them. Despite having a full-time job, Francesca was unable to afford rental prices and they were forced to move into a cramped single hostel room. The heavily pregnant Francesca then shortly gave birth. Left feeling like her family didn’t have a future, Francesca called the Shelter helpline and our adviser contacted the council on her behalf. Before long, Francesca and her family moved into a permanent home of their own.
‘I spoke to an adviser called Kellie who was really helpful and reassured me that she would help me out of the hostel. I knew that someone was there to help me and I wasn’t fighting the battle by myself. Knowing we’ve now got somewhere to go home to is a lovely feeling.’ – Francesca, Cleo & Malachi
It is with your generous support that Shelter are able to help even more families to find and keep a safe place to call home.”
