Mock interview success for Riddlesdown College
January 28, 2019On Wednesday 23rd January, Anglian Building Products attended Riddlesdown College in Croydon to support pupils in building confidence with mock interviews.
Approximately three hundred year 10 pupils took part in the day, which consisted of meeting with local professionals of the area from various industries to gain advice and experience of real-life interviews.
Anglian employee’s, Michelle Drunger, Recruitment Advisor and John Fairweather, Head of Technical volunteered 1 of their 3 allocated volunteering days to attend the event. The practice of the day was to spend 15 minutes with each student, to interview them about the details on their CV and ask questions about their school work and hobbies. As the students did not necessarily have work experience or qualifications, the aim was to encourage them with information about what impressed the interviewer, to give constructive feedback with targets for improvement, and to overall increase confidence.
Caroline Knox, Teacher of Computing and Careers commented, “We are very grateful to Anglian Building Products that they were able to give up their time to volunteer and meet with some of our students to conduct Mock Interviews. Without the generosity of time and expertise, it would not be possible to offer our students events such as this. Our Year 10’s have been proudly showing off their feedback sheets and sharing the verbal advice they were given. I know their confidence will have been built upon and they have tips on areas to improve, so they can stand out when it comes to their first real interview”.
